How to STOP menopausal migraines even if you’ve suffered for years

I’ve suffered from migraines for years and have lost countless days to the debilitating pain, flashing lights and sickness.

Even if you’ve never had one before, they can strike at menopause and be very distressing.

Here are 5 things to try for migraine prevention:-

1. Eat a very low carbohydrate or ketogenic diet. It works by helping the brain to use ketones for fuel [rather than sugar/glucose from carbs] and can improve brain energy.

2. Identify your triggers, common ones are bright sunlight, strong smells, gluten and histamine-rich foods like aged cheese and red wine.

3. Reduce alcohol, it can cause headaches in 2 ways: by causing dehydration and by initially relaxing blood vessels & increasing blood flow to the brain.

4. Get enough sleep. Aim for 8 hours to allow your brain cells to reorganise and clear out any waste or toxic byproducts that have built up during the day.

5. Manage stress levels. Find something that helps you relax, such as meditation, yoga, walking, listening to music.

We are all different so there is no one thing that will work for everyone, and there are many more things you can try.

Now I’ve got a grip on my triggers, I no longer feel like I’m losing whole days and have got my life back, with more time to have fun and do the things I want to.
