It’s a bit of a cliché isn’t it “good health is your most valuable asset.”
But from what I see, most of us do take our health for granted, and it’s not until we get ill or start experiencing menopause symptoms that we start really thinking about it.
We then either start to wonder what’s gone wrong and what we can do about it; suffer through the symptoms and feel sorry for ourselves; or rush off to the doctor to see what they can do about it.
Which one are you?
Menopause is not an illness or disease and it’s not a medical condition [despite what the media coverage seems to suggest]. It’s a natural life stage, that half the population go through.
How you experience your menopause will be largely determined about how you’ve approached your health over the previous 20-30 years.
Ask anyone what a healthy lifestyle looks like and they will tell you that it’s about:
?Eating a healthy diet
?Exercising regularly
?Getting enough sleep
?Managing stress
But how many of us are actually doing this and taking responsibility for our own health?
From the levels of chronic illness such as heart disease, obesity and type 2 diabetes in this country, the answer is not many. And these are what will end up killing you, not menopause!
If you’ve been taking your health for granted, your symptoms could be the wake-up call you need.
Post menopause, you could have another 40% of your life ahead of you, so it’s vital to ensure they’re healthy, happy years.
