60 percent of women in perimenopause and menopause report declines in cognitive (thinking and memory) performance, and I was one of them 7 years ago.
When severe brain fog struck leaving me with a mushy brain, no confidence and unable to per-form my best at work … I was fired!
I wanted to leave the corporate world behind and retrain in nutrition, but I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to think clearly enough to take in and absorb and retain the information, espe-cially since nutrition is largely a science-based subject.
Through research I discovered what was causing the fog and how to get rid of it, enabling me to regain my mental clarity and be able to think clearly again.
Here are some of the key things you can do to cut through the fog:
?️ Stop eating sugary foods and refined white carbohydrates – they fog up your brain.
?️ Eat oily fish 2-3 times a week. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which your brain needs to build brain and nerve cells to improve your memory and mental clarity.
?️ Exercise at least 3 times a week to help get oxygen to your brain and enable the growth and repair of brain cells.
?️ Ensure you’re sleeping 7-8 hours per night. Lack of sleep leads to lower levels of concentration and alertness.
?️ Eat a wide range of colourful vegetables and fruit to provide your brain with the antioxidants and polyphenols [plant-based nutrients] needed to protect your brain from damage.
?️Manage your stress levels through mindful meditation, yoga or breathing exercises. Stress can kill brain cells and shrink your brain.
These are just 6 of the things that helped me transform my brain, there are many more.
Let me know what one you’re going to try and whether it makes a difference? I’d love to know.
