Meet Tina, who came to see me to work on reducing her blood pressure and cholesterol naturally to avoid having to take prescription medication.
New clients always fill out a detailed health questionnaire and from this and the information gathered during our first session I could see that Tina had three different autoimmune conditions and had had a mini stroke many years previously. She was concerned about her future health and wellbeing and wanted to avoid the many side effects that come with taking medication at any cost.
When we met Tina was feeling dizzy and light-headed and also lacking in energy, I could see from her most recent GP blood results that her vitamin B12 and folate were at really low levels, which could be driving some of her symptoms and her kidney function wasn’t optimal either.
Over the past few months we’ve been through a comprehensive overhaul of Tina’s diet and life-style and implemented many new habits.
My approach is to provide education alongside my recommendations and then make changes slowly to ensure they become embedded as new habits. One of the areas I always discuss with clients is toxic load and how this may have impacted her over the years, especially as she had been regularly exposed to x-rays and other toxins in the course of her work in a dental surgery.
Previously Tina had adored biscuits and chocolate bars, as well as sugar in coffee and was quite surprised how easy she found it to give them up. She very quickly noticed she was losing weight as well as her Pooh Bear belly, plus her skin was much improved too.
She had also really enjoyed drinking wine several days a week, even though she had noticed that the day after she felt really groggy and was also surprised how much better she felt when she cut down on the wine and restricted it to a couple of glasses at the weekend. Alcohol is well-known for impacting blood pressure, as well as weight and many other areas of health.
Six months on Tina is no longer feeling dizzy and light-headed, her blood pressure and cholesterol are under control and she’s feeling much more energetic. She’s also lost weight and improved her sleep and even more importantly is really confident she can continue the changes we’ve made. She feels the whole process has been totally life changing.
