Are You One of the 53% of UK Women Aged 40-60 Who Have Missed Work Due to Menopause Symptoms?”

If so I'm sure you're not surprised by this shockingly high statistic.

Although menopause is a natural transition, for many women symptoms such as hot flushes, fatigue, brain fog, and mood swings — can feel anything but manageable.

8 years ago menopause symptoms wreaked havoc on my career in marketing and brought it to a sudden end so I know how it feels.

There is however a lot you can do to manage your symptoms naturally through simple nutrition and lifestyle changes, whether or not you opt to take hormone medication or not.

Some women, like myself, are unable to take HRT because of my history of breast cancer and I've worked with many similar women, plus those that just don't want to take any medication, as well as those taking HRT who are still not feeling 100%.

However, despite the massively increased awareness and discussion around menopause, there is still a lack of information and awareness about the power of good nutrition and lifestyle in many cases to resolve symptoms completely.

Here's a few top tips to get your started:

To balance hormones naturally some foods such as flaxseeds, broccoli, and healthy fats found in oily fish can support hormone balance, reducing the severity of symptoms like night sweats and irritability.

To support your energy levels and combat fatigues by focusing on nutrient-dense meals rich in B vitamins, magnesium, and protein. Staying hydrated and limiting caffeine can also stabilise energy throughout the day.

It's really important to find a way to manage your stress levels, as stress makes every single symptom worse. Try incorporating relaxation techniques like deep breathing, yoga, or a simple walk in nature to help your body stay calm and resilient.

Think about your gut health, which plays a significant role in hormone metabolism. Include prebiotic foods such as oats, leeks, onions, apples and probiotic foods like live yogurt, kefir, kimchi and sauerkraut to support your digestion and overall well-being.
