You’ve done all the “right” things. You went to your doctor. You had the blood tests. You waited for the results.
And then you heard those frustrating words: “Everything looks normal.”
But inside, you know something isn’t right. You’re still struggling with:
🍉 Constant fatigue, no matter how much you sleep
🥦 Brain fog or low mood
🍏 Bloating and digestive discomfort
🍊 Anxiety or low resilience to stress
🍇 Hormonal imbalances or poor sleep
So, if the labs are “fine,” why do you still feel awful?
What “Normal” Blood Tests Actually Mean
First, it’s important to understand what standard blood tests are designed to do. They’re excellent at flagging disease states – things like anaemia, diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, or liver damage. But they aren’t designed to catch subtler issues like nutrient depletion, hormonal imbalances, gut dysfunction, or chronic inflammation unless things are already significantly out of range.
You may fall within the “reference range” – but that doesn’t always mean you're functioning optimally.
For example:
Your B12 might be “normal” but still too low to support healthy energy and mood.
Your thyroid might be technically “in range” while still underperforming.
Your iron levels might not be low enough to diagnose anaemia, yet too low to stop you feeling exhausted.
The “Grey Area” of Health – Where Nutritional Therapy Shines
This is where many of my clients find themselves – not acutely ill, but far from thriving.
As a nutritional therapist, I look at your health differently. I focus on the function of your body, not just whether it passes a test.
I spend time exploring your unique picture, including:
🩺 Your symptoms, timeline and health history
🏃🏻♂️ Lifestyle factors like stress, sleep, movement and environment
🫑 Dietary patterns, deficiencies and digestion
💉 Personalised functional testing (where needed) for deeper insight into nutrient status, gut health, hormones, or inflammation
Rather than looking for a diagnosis, I identify underlying patterns of imbalance that might be contributing to how you feel.
Common Issues I See Behind “Normal” Labs
Here are just a few of the imbalances I’ve uncovered in clients who were told everything was fine:
🦋 Suboptimal thyroid function missed by standard TSH-only testing
☀️ Low vitamin D or B12 levels
🩸 Iron storage issues (low ferritin, despite a normal haemoglobin)
🦠 Chronic gut dysbiosis or hidden food sensitivities
🍰 Blood sugar dysregulation, even without diabetes
🤯 Cortisol imbalances driving fatigue and anxiety
🔥 Inflammation that doesn’t show up in a basic CRP test
All of these can contribute to low energy, poor mood, gut symptoms, hormonal issues, and more – even if your GP says you’re “normal.”
You deserve to feel listened to, taken seriously, and supported with tools that actually help. My approach is rooted in evidence-based nutrition, personalised to you. No one-size-fits-all protocols. No quick fixes. Just time, attention, and a plan that works with your body – not against it.
