Are these common weight loss mistakes holding you back?

If you're struggling to shift stubborn weight during menopause, you're definitely not alone.

Weight gain is one of the most common concerns I hear from women and with so much conflicting advice out there, it’s no wonder things can feel con-fusing and frustrating.

Here are 3 common weight loss mistakes I often see that could be sabotaging your efforts:

❌ Drastically cutting calories and obsessively tracking your food.

It might seem logical to eat less to lose weight, but extreme calorie re-striction often backfires. Your body is smart: when you eat too little, it compensates by slowing your metabolism, making fat loss harder, not easier. Plus, it doesn’t account for your age, hormones, muscle mass, and stress levels - all of which affect how your body responds to food.

❌ Going all-out at the gym. Upping your exercise can help, but too much high-intensity training can increase cortisol (your stress hormone), which may actually encourage fat storage, especially around the middle. More is not always better. The key is targeted movement that supports your hormones and metabolism, not overwhelms them.

❌ Swapping real food for low-fat labels and meal replacements. Fat is not the enemy! Healthy fats support hormone production, brain health, and balanced blood sugar - all crucial for sustainable weight loss. And while shakes might be convenient, they’re no substitute for nutrient-dense, real whole foods that nourish your body and support long-term results.

✅ What you really need is a personalised and sustainable weight loss strategy, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

A strategy that ensures you’re eating the right kinds of foods to burn fat, incorporates the right amount of exercise AND fuels your body with the nutrients it needs.
