Five simple tips for clearing your brain fog and improving your memory

Nine years ago in my senior corporate role, the lack of focus and concentration left me struggling to do a job I had done successfully for over 25 years.

I just couldn’t seem to think straight. I felt like my brain had gone AWOL.

45% of women say their menopause symptoms have had a negative impact on their work according to a recent study.

If this is you, here are 5 simple tips to help clear your brain fog and improve your memory:

🦈 Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 helps build brain and nerve cells which will help improve your memory. Switch your ham sandwich for a salmon salad.

💦 Water your brain and avoid dehydration. Your brain cells need water to help them communicate with each other and to clear out toxins & waste that can stop them functioning. Drink 2 litres of water or herbal tea a day. [Coffee and alcohol don’t count]!

🏃🏻‍♂️ Exercise at least 3 times a week to facilitate the growth and repair of cells and blood vessels in your brain. Exercise helps get oxygen to the brain and builds new brain cells. Find a form of exercise you enjoy such as salsa dancing, rowing, tennis.

😴 Get a good night’s sleep. Lack of sleep leads to lower levels of concentration and alertness. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day to reset your circadian rhythms [body clock].

🤯 Manage your stress levels. Stress can kill brain cells and shrink your brain. Mindful meditation and yoga can switch you out of stress mode and into rest and relaxation.
