The meno-pot is real – here’s why and what you can do about it…

One of the questions I get asked most is about menopause weight changes - especially that stubborn belly fat.

And to be honest, I've noticed it on my own body too.

So let's talk about why it happens:

🧐 Falling oestrogen and progesterone means an increase in more insulin resistance. Your body can't process carbs as efficiently, so it stores any excess as fat.

🧐 Metabolism slows with age - full stop. Even if your food and movement haven't changed, your body isn't burning energy the way it used to.

🧐 Your body switches oestrogen sources. As the ovaries wind down oestradiol production, fat cells and adrenal glands step in to make oestrone instead. To ensure you have enough post menopause hormone, your body holds onto fat around the belly.

None of this is your fault. It's just biology.

The good news is that you can work with your body instead of fighting it.

✨ Prioritise protein - for energy, muscle, and staying full.

✨ Add fibre (gradually) and load up on colourful, anti-inflammatory veg and fruit.

✨ Strength train to protect muscle and bone and improve your metabolism.

✨ Move more throughout the day - especially after meals, and avoid long stretches spent sitting.

✨ Treat sleep and stress management as non-negotiable, not optional.

Forget chasing thinness.

Focus on energy, strength, and confidence for this next chapter.
