Every day I talk to women about managing menopause symptoms and how simple changes to what they’re eating and how they’re living their life can make such a huge difference to how they’re feeling.
To the enlightened 28% it makes sense to see what they can do themselves to feel better and rid themselves of the pesky weight gain, annoying mood swings and embarrassing hot flushes [to name just a few menopause symptoms].
The remaining 72% either do nothing or place their hopes in their doctor’s prescription of replacement hormones and wonder why they’re not automatically feeling better.
However, the reality is that there are at least 50 hormones in our bodies that work together to affect our menopause symptoms – so much more to consider than just low oestrogen and progesterone levels.
Recently I’ve worked with clients to resolve their mood swings, weight gain, hot flushes, sleep disruption, brain fog and low energy without a prescription for medication in sight.
Many of my clients were living in the fat phobic 1980s. Eating low fat products, far too many starches and sugars and very little protein. They'd been stepping up the exercise regimes and rushing through their days without stopping to reflect on what really mattered to them.
It’s time to stop this madness and re-educate yourself on how your lifestyle is affecting your menopause.
