Sex off the menu? Here’s some food for thought…..

Sadly, it seems to be normal!

The British Menopause Society reported that 51% of women say that menopause had affected their sex drive.

But before we jump into what you can do about it, let’s consider the different problems it can cause. Not all of them require solutions!

Is it vaginal dryness, painful sex, a decrease in sexual desire, or maybe you just don’t want to have sex with 'him' anymore?

Oestrogen is one of your “LOVE” hormones and when levels fall at menopause, it causes de-creased blood flow and a whole lot of less pleasure!

Here’s 4 things you can do to get your blood pumping and to feel sexy and confident again:

✅ Eat more oestrogen mimicking foods [phytoestrogens]

Flaxseeds, sesame seeds, broccoli sprouts, edamame beans, nuts, sage and turmeric are some of nature’s natural ways of managing your oestrogen levels.

✅ Supplements & herbs

Maca, red clover, ashwagandha and red ginseng are great for libido. Ginger, thyme, and turmeric improve blood flow and Siberian rhubarb activates your oestrogen receptors. Plus sea buck-thorn oil has been shown to relieve vaginal dryness, itching and burning.

✅ Sex-ercise

Add in strength-building core exercises to your workout routine [sex is also exercise]. This is vital for getting your blood pumping and getting in the mood.

✅ Don’t forget the basics of good nutrition.

Minimise sugars & starches; eat enough protein [especially zinc rich foods such as meat, poultry, beans and nuts]; healthy fats; and leafy green, yellow and orange vegetables [for vitamin A].
