Happy New Year – welcome to 2024 - I hope you have great plans in store!
If you’re expecting a predictable post around how to be healthier this year, then this is it, albeit with a slight twist!
Remember the funny TV makeover programme ‘Snog Marry Avoid’?
This is my version of how to be healthier in 2024:
Snog😘
🍉 Fruit – eat berries, apples and oranges.
🦠 Fermented food – eat/drink sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, kefir. Start small and build up to avoid excess wind!💨
🐠 Oily fish - essential to eat for omega 3 fatty acids. Your brain, hormones and IQ will love it.
💏 Lovers – Sex, kissing, hugging and intimacy all release the hormone oxytocin which makes you feel happy and relaxed and totally counteracts stress [see avoid].
Marry 💘
🥦 Vegetables – eat as many as you can every day of all different colours.
🥩🥑Real food – eat fresh minimally processed food that your grandma or great-grandma would recognise ie not made in a factory.
😴 Sleep – make 7-8 hours a night a priority and everything in your life will improve.
🚶♀️Exercise – move, exercise, lift weights and everything in your life will improve.
Avoid ☠️
🍰 Sugar – contains no nutrition, just empty calories that makes you fat, damage your blood vessels, arteries and brain.
🍨 UPF [ultra processed food] including artificial sweeteners and anything that has a list of in-gredients you wouldn’t find in your kitchen. Clue: most UPF is not food, it’s ‘an industrially produced edible substance’ [Fernanda Rauber]
🤯 Stress – difficult to do but essential to find ways to manage your life stress in a way that works for you.
💀 Toxins – including chemicals in personal care and household products, plastics, food addi-tives and sweeteners.
