Nutrition for Midlife, Healthy Ageing and Long-term Wellbeing

I'm Helen Ritchie, a BANT Registered Nutritional Therapist and CNHC Registered Practitioner specialising in midlife health and healthy ageing.

My particular areas of interest are brain health, bone and muscle health, metabolic health and menopause.

I believe that our health in later life isn't simply determined by our genes or by what happens when we're older.

The choices we make throughout midlife - what we eat, how we move, how well we sleep, how we manage stress and how we look after our metabolic, brain, bone and and muscle health - all contribute to the foundations we carry forward.

My Journey into Nutritional Therapy

My own experience of menopause changed the direction of my life. Around ten years ago, I began experiencing brain fog, anxiety, disrupted sleep, hot flushes, low energy and a significant loss of confidence.

After more than 30 years working in corporate marketing, I found myself struggling to perform at the level I had previously taken for granted. That experience prompted me to completely rethink my own health and ultimately retrain in clinical nutrition.

I spent four years studying clinical nutrition before establishing RitchNutrition in 2021. What began with my interest in menopause has grown into a much broader passion for helping people take a proactive approach to their long-term health.

My Approach

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all nutrition. I start by understanding the individual - your health history, nutrition, lifestyle, symptoms, goals and relevant test results -before identifying the areas where personalised nutrition and lifestyle changes may be most useful.

My approach is evidence-based, practical and personalised. I aim to give you the knowledge and confidence to understand your health and make changes that are realistic enough to maintain.

You don't have to wait until something goes wrong. Taking a proactive approach to your health in midlife can be an investment in how you feel today and in the health you want to enjoy in the future.
