Feel like you’re going crazy because you just can’t think straight?

Trust me you’re not going crazy or stupid.

It’s brain fog.

Brain fog was THE WORST symptom I experienced in menopause and is driven by low oestrogen levels in the brain.

Brain fog affected my memory and concentration, left me suddenly unable to think clearly and function like I used to and seriously undermined my confidence at work.

Here are 5 simple tips to help improve your memory and clear your brain fog whilst you’re working:

1. Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s help build brain and nerve cells which will help improve your memory. Switch your tuna sandwich for a salmon salad.

2. Water your brain and avoid dehydration. Your brain cells need water to help them communicate with each other & to clear out toxins that can stop them functioning. Drink 2 litres of water or herbal teas a day. [Coffee and alcohol don’t count]!

3. Exercise regularly to facilitate the growth and repair of cells and blood vessels in your brain. Exercise helps get oxygen to the brain & builds new brain cells. Do exercise you enjoy such as dancing, swimming or playing tennis.

4. Get a good night’s sleep. Lack of sleep leads to lower levels of concentration & alertness. Go to bed and wake up at the same time to reset your circadian rhythm [body clock].

5. Manage your stress levels. Stress can kill brain cells and shrink your brain. Mindful meditation and relaxation techniques can switch you out of stress mode and into rest and relaxation.
